How much does it cost to travel in North America?
The United States and Canada are hugely popular destinations for travellers from all walks of life. Tourists come to visit mighty National Parks, dive into stunning lakes, spot bears, mousse and eagles and climb towering mountains. Popular backpacking circuits include the legendary route 66 and touring the West Coast or Canadian Rockies.
Travelling is easy with the Greyhound bus and Amtrak trains available to backpackers at low costs, and rooms are generally clean with good motel or hotel facilities available. It's possible to experience all this for $80-$110 a day; excellent value for money.
